OUR STATE PROMOTES THE DEVELOPMENT OF NGOC LINH GINSENG TO IMPROVE PEOPLE'S LIVES IN KON TUM

Kon Tum is a land with many precious medicinal herbs but has not been grown or exploited to produce medicine before, while the demand for medicinal herbs is very large. Currently, developing medicinal plant areas is considered one of the solutions to conserve biodiversity in general, and preserve precious medicinal resources in particular, opening up new directions in economic development, contributing to the realization of medicinal plants. Successfully realizing the goal set out in Subproject 2: "Supporting production development along the value chain, precious medicinal herb growing areas, promoting business startups, entrepreneurship and attracting investment in ethnic minority areas minorities and mountainous areas" under the National Target Program for socio-economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the period 2021 - 2030, encouraging ethnic minorities to strongly develop medicinal plants especially the "National Treasure" Ngoc Linh ginseng.

To develop precious medicinal resources, Kon Tum province has developed a "Project for investment, development and processing of medicinal herbs until 2025 and orientation to 2030". Initially, the province built medicinal areas in Dak Glei, Tu Mo Rong and Kon Plong districts. Some products from Kon Tum's medicinal herbs have been well received by the market. The development of medicinal herbs has contributed to reducing poverty and promoting local socio-economic development.

According to Mr. Vo Trung Manh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tu Mo Rong district, Tu Mo Rong district currently has 11 communes, of which 10 communes can grow Ngoc Linh ginseng, and 6 communes have been granted geographical indications: "For the district, determine the way out. Sustainable poverty is managing, protecting, developing forests, growing medicinal herbs and raising livestock under the forest canopy in association with tourism. From 2020 up to now, we have developed medicinal plants, of which ginseng is the key plant. and the second plant is ginseng - ginseng. This is a popular plant, easy to grow, cheap, and can be used to prepare many dishes. People today change their perception from "asking to giving", especially during the year. In 2022, people will borrow 39 billion to raise capital to plant Ngoc Linh ginseng; in 2023 alone, people will borrow nearly 80 billion to plant and develop this plant, not to mention other medicinal herbs."

To date, Kon Tum is the province with the largest area of Ngoc Linh ginseng in the country, 1,800 hectares, with a diverse model, the most typical of which is linking with people, including ethnic minorities... Every year, Kon Tum Tum has the ability to supply more than 1 million seedlings to people. Among them, Tu Mo Rong is currently the locality with the most area planted with Ngoc Linh ginseng in Kon Tum province. The entire district currently grows 1,700 hectares of ginseng, of which people grow 100 hectares with about 600 households participating.

According to Mr. Manh, Tu Mo Rong district will continue to promote mobilization of people, especially ethnic minorities, to change their thinking and ways of doing things, moving from simple agricultural production to valuable commodity agriculture. high like Ngoc Linh ginseng or other medicinal herbs. Also thanks to medicinal herbs, in the period 2020-2022, the entire district has 1,947 households escaping poverty; including a significant contribution from Ngoc Linh ginseng.
